A driver was killed in crash in Deer Park Sunday night.

A motorist was driving northbound on Deer Park Avenue around 9:30 p.m. when he spotted a 2009 Honda Pilot in the center median against a road sign near Weston Avenue and called 911.

Officers responded to the scene and removed Jose Hernandez-Escobar, the sole occupant, from the vehicle, Suffolk police say.

Detectives believe Hernandez-Escobar, 52, of East Northport, suffered a medical event right before the crash.

He was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Suffolk’s First Squad at 631-854-8152.
