The Manhattan District Attorney's Office launched an investigation of a sexual assault claim made against California Representative and candidate for Governor Eric Swalwell.

Four women are accusing Swalwell of sexual assault and misconduct spanning back to 2019.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is investigating an alleged incident that happened in New York back in 2024.

Swalwell is among the leading Democrats in the California governor's race to replace Gavin Newsom. Many of his allies have since dropped their endorsements and want him to exit the race.

Swalwell took to social media to address the allegations on Friday.

"I do not suggest to you in any way that I'm perfect or that I'm a saint. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife, and to her I apologize deeply for putting her in this position. I also apologize to you if in any way you've doubted your support for me. But I think you know who I am," he said in a post.

Swalwell has denied calls to exit the California governor's race so far.

He planned on spending the weekend with his family and friends and will have an update "very soon."
